Study Aim |
The aim of this study is to to bridge the evidence gap by developing and testing the feasibility of a complex peer-led, multi-component physical activity intervention, derived from a socio-ecological model of health, in socio-economically disadvantaged community dwelling older adults.

Objective 1: identify components for inclusion in a peer-led walking intervention based on a review of the literature and interviews to determine their acceptability in community dwelling older adults

Objective 2: to develop a protocol for the content and delivery of a peer-led walking programme for older adults that addresses multiple levels of the socio-ecological model
|
|
Objective 3: to pilot recruitment, training and management of a group of peer mentors, working in collaboration with community partners
|
|
Objective 4: to test the feasibility of a peer-led walking programme targeting inactive older adults in a randomised controlled pilot study, in order to inform the design of a main trial
